2009 Folk Festival

In addition to nationally known headline acts each evening, the Tucson Folk Festival showcases local and regional musicians from Arizona and the Southwest. The Festival offers workshops, a gospel sing-along, a children's show, and features a wide array of food and craft booths as well.

FREE to the public and held in the first week of May, the Festival is one of the loveliest events on the Tucson calendar.

Past years' headliners have included: Richie Havens, Rory Block, Tish Hinojosa, Jimmy LaFave, Odetta, Guy Clark, Al Stewart, Tim O'Brien, Chris Smither, Karla Bonoff, David Wilcox, Laura Love, Hans Olson, Rosie Flores, the John Cowan Band, the Austin Lounge Lizards, Aztec Two Step, Bill Miller, Terri Hendrix, Joyce Andersen & Harvey Reid, Trout Fishing in America, Marley's Ghost, Ruthie Foster, Billy Jonas and many more.

Announcing 2009 Folk Festival Applications

Applications are now available for the 24th Annual Tucson Folk Festival, to take place Saturday and Sunday, May 2nd and 3rd, 2009, in and near El Presidio Park in downtown Tucson.

WHEN

The Festival is a two-day event offering over 20 hours of music, dance, and entertainment.

 

WHERE

 

Since 1986 the Festival has been held downtown, in El Presidio Park. The performances this year will be on these five stages:
  • Plaza stage at City Hall
  • Courtyard stage at the Old Pima County Courthouse
  • Museum stage at the Tucson Museum of Art
  • Old Town Artisans stage
  • New Artists stage

Located in downtown Tucson, all five stages are within easy walking distance from the corner of Church and Alameda.

Interstate 10 Construction

Note that due to construction, all I-10 exits from Prince Road to 29th Street are closed. Traffic to downtown must exit at either Exit 254 - Prince Road (eastbound) or Exit 259 - 29th Street (westbound) and use the frontage road. For official construction information, visit the
Arizona Dept. of Transportation .
